There’s a quote that someone said to me that really opened my eyes and made me see the world differently. Not sure the actual wording or who said it but it basically says
“Recognize the deity in the person next to you, and give them a hug”
Amen brother Koi! I can honestly say that some of those quotes as well as your thoughts on them are just the same as mine on where I'm at in my life because I'm a syncretist just like you! Just curious, would you be down for a suggestion or two for your next video?
this may be a weird question, but the quote about existing to serve others, although is very important, seems a bit contradicting to self love and serving yourself, as well as others. is self love considered an "ego" thing to do, or is it necessary to life?
Hey koi, or anyone else, I have a question about what you think about human nature. In my English class in high school we are reading this book called Lord Of The Flies. Basically it is made to show that human nature is evil, but how can that be if you say the foundation of everything is love? The book explores the idea of what we do when there are no rules or nobody is looking, that without civilization to guide us and give us morals we become savage. So what are your opinions?
My favorite is the bible verse "For where your treasure is, there will be your heart also" (Matthew 6:21). The reason this one speaks to me is because, in our bigger is better world, money is the the ultimate goal for most. People seek happiness in parishable possessions. Your treasures are tied to who you are, so choose carefully.
Life feeds on life. Everyday you continue to live another life form has to end for you. Don't get me wrong, I am a vegan too, but I have realised that I will never exist without creating harm for others and that because of that to live a life in full unconditional love is difficult.
I've recently found you and I must say, I love you man. You are an amazing video maker and a very inspiring person in general. I've recently started transitioning into a vegan (started about 6 months ago) and I must say I've never felt better. I was never a religious person but always interested in Buddhism and was wondering if you've got anything about Buddhism I should maybe know during my exploration of this path. I've talked to many different people with all different religious backgrounds and honestly nothing catches me like Buddhism does, I'm a very helpful person and always thinking of others and how I may be able to help them. I really think Buddhism could be my path going forward and you seem to have a lot of knowledge about this, anything you could share would be helpful :)
“Remember that there is only one important time and it is Now. The present moment is the only time over which we have dominion. The most important person is always the person with whom you are, who is right before you, for who knows if you will have dealings with any other person in the future? The most important pursuit is making that person, the one standing at you side, happy, for that alone is the pursuit of life.”
― Leo Tolstoy
Awesome quotes Koi ! Bodhidharma's one really helped me to realize the "mechanism" or "non-mechanism" of the true understanding of reality.
-"Silence is a source of great strength" Lao Tzu (absolutely love this one)
"Never let your fear decide your faith"; from the awolnation song "kill your heros". I personally always struggled with all kinds of fear and anxiety and this quote reminds me that i won't find happyness unless i stop making decisions based on what i do not fear but on what i truly want, that happyness often hides behind something scary that needs to be overcome and that i shouldn't worry as much because, quoting awolnation, everybody will die, not even meant in a pessimistic, but optimistic manner ^^
Some of the most powerful personal transformations i've ever experienced have come from very simple quotes.
"Let go or be dragged"
- Zen saying
Thankyou Koi. You continue to inspire me as a person and my YouTube efforts.
Peace and presence.
