The Content-Type Header Explained (with examples) | Web Development Tutorial

09:29
In this video we take a look at the Content-Type header part of the HTTP protocol. In a nutshell, the Content-Type header indicates what kind of data (MIME Type) is being sent. As an example, we'll be setting the Content-Type as "application/json" in a PHP script which returns a JSON string. We then use a similar technique to output CSS without creating a ".css" file. The Content-Type should be used to make your server-side code "proper". It also allows you to create dynamic resources (i.e. images, style sheets, JavaScript etc.) Support me on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/dcode - with enough funding I plan to develop a website of some sort with a new developer experience! For your reference, check this out: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Headers/Content-Type Follow me on Twitter @dcode! MIME sniffing (Explained by Example)

10:42
Any content served through HTTP “should” include meta data about its type. This is so the browser/client knows what to do with the content it receives. For example, if the content type header is an image the browser will preview it, if it is HTML it will render the markup and execute any javascript code. Content type however is optional and web masters sometimes don’t set it, which leave the browsers wondering about the content type it is consuming. So browsers had to implement parsing and “sniffing” techniques to detect the type of content when a content type header was not served. However, this caused security problems and attacks that we explain in this video! So to prevent sniffing, web servers can return X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff which opts out browsers from sniffing the content. Author: Jeremy Druin Twitter: @webpwnized Thank you for watching. Please support this channel. Up vote, subscribe or even donate by clicking "Support" at https://www.youtube.com/user/webpwnized! Description: Using Mutillidae, we contrast JavaScript frame busting code and the X-FRAME-OPTIONS header. The two methods are compared on a site being framed. The site is framed inside of an iframe tag and the two methods prevent the site from appearing in the iframe. These two methods are useful in helping with cross site framing and click-jacking. Mutillidae is a free web application with vulnerabilities added on purpose to give security enthusiast and developers an application to practice various attacks and defenses. It is a free download on Sourceforge. Updates on Mutillidae are tweeted at @webpwnized. The webpwnized YouTube channel is dedicated to information security, security testing and ethical hacking. There is an emphasis on web application security but many other topics are covers. Some of these include forensics, network security, security testing tools and security testing processes. The channel provides videos to encourage software developers and system administrators to perform security testing. Also, the channel educates the next generation of security testers and bug bounty hunters who want to respectfully, legally and ethically help system owners that allow security testing.

Clientside security with the Security Header Injection Module SHIM - OWASP AppSecUSA 2014

38:40
Recorded at AppSecUSA 2014 in Denver http://2014.appsecusa.org/ Thursday, September 18 • 3:00pm - 3:45pm Client-side security with the Security Header Injection Module (SHIM) Client-side security headers are useful countermeasures for Man-In-The-Middle, Clickjacking, XSS, MIME-Type sniffing, and Data Caching vulnerabilities. In this talk, we will review several security headers (e.g. Strict-Transport-Security, X-Frame-Options, X-XSS-Protection, Content-Security-Policy, and X-Content-Type-Options) and the various options available for each header. We will then demonstrate a new open source Security Header Injection Module (SHIM) for ASP.NET (developed by the presenters) that can be configured to mitigate the vulnerabilities by setting the security headers for any web application. The SHIM tool will be officially released at AppSec USA. Angular select options from array

Step 1 : Create the Department class. Add a TypeScript file to the models folder. Name it department.model.ts. Copy and paste the following code. Notice the Department class has 2 properties - id and name of the department. export class Department { id: number; name: string; } Step 2 : Import the Department class. Include the following import statement in create-employee.component.ts file import { Department } from '../models/department.model'; Step 3 : Include the following array of departments in CreateEmployeeComponent class in create-employee.component.ts file departments: Department[] = [ { id: 1, name: 'Help Desk' }, { id: 2, name: 'HR' }, { id: 3, name: 'IT' }, { id: 4, name: 'Payroll' } ]; Please note : The "Department" type is not required for the application to work, but it adds great value during development. Using it provides us intellisense, error checking and type saftey. For the HTML used in the video, please refer to my blog link below http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2018/01/angular-select-options-from-array.html Code explanation: 1. On the "option" element we are using ngFor structural directive to loop over the array of departments we have in the "departments" property of the component class 2. For each "Department" object in the "departments" array, we get an option. 3. The option value is the department id and the display text is the department name 4. Notice the square brackets around the [value] property. This is property binding in Angular. We discussed property binding in detail in Part 9 of Angular 2 tutorial. If you remove the square brackets the value for each option will be the literal text "dept.id" instead of the department id (1 or 2 or 3 etc.) Property binding in Angular https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGYfTx9AAQA&list=PL6n9fhu94yhWqGD8BuKuX-VTKqlNBj-m6&index=9 5. To display the deprtment name we are using interpolation. We discussed interpolation in Part 8 of Angular 2 tutorial. Interpolation in Angular https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FkkAqFWRk8&list=PL6n9fhu94yhWqGD8BuKuX-VTKqlNBj-m6&index=8 6. Since ngFor is a structural directive there is an asterisk before it. 7. Structural directives modify the DOM, i.e they add or remove the elements from DOM. Adding and removing elements from DOM is different from showing and hiding. We will discuss all these in detail in our upcoming videos. At this point, when we select a department, the respective department id is included in the Angular generated form model. Along the same lines, when we click the "Save" button the respective department id is logged to the console. Please note : It is important that we include the ngFor directive on the element that we want to be repeated. In our case we want an option element for each department we have in the array. So we included the ngFor directive on the option element. If we instead include the ngFor directive on the "div" element that has the bootstrap "form-group" class, we get 4 department dropdownlists. That is one for each department in the array. So it is important we include the ngFor directive on the right element.

How to Display Labels in Form Elements with Compact Forms and In Field Labels

03:04
By: Ivan Zugec http://webwash.net | http://twitter.com/webwashnet Modules: - Compact Forms (http://drupal.org/project/compact_forms) (7.x-1.0) - In Field Labels (http://drupal.org/project/In-Field-Labels) (7.x-1.1) Transcript: A client recently asked if form labels can be displayed within a form element. More specifically, they wanted the field labels on the user login and registration page to be placed inside of the field or overlaid. This can easily be achieved using JavaScript or a jQuery plugin. Seeing as the site was built using Drupal, I went in search for a module to do the trick and found two modules: "Compact Forms" and "In Field Labels". In this video, I'll show you how to implement both modules and it should help you decide which one to use. "Compact Forms" is the most popular of the two because it's been around the longest. Installing the module is easy, simply download and install and you're good to go. The module doesn't require any 3rd party plugins or libraries because it implements its own JavaScript. Once you install the module, go to Configuration and "Compact Forms". If you need to compact a form, simply add the form ID into the "Form CSS IDs" text area, add one per line. Let's say for example, we want to compact the "Create new account" form. Open another browser and go to that form. Now we need to find out the form ID, the easiest way to do that is to inspect the element. Find the form tag and grab the form id. Let's go head back to our main browser and add the ID, below "user login form", and click on "Save configuration". Now if we jump back to Firefox and refresh the page, the labels should now be in the form elements. "In Field Labels" is the newest of the two and uses the "In-Field Labels" jQuery plugin. The plugin ships with the module, so you do not have to download it separately. Installation of the module is simple, just download and install. Once you install the module, go to Configuration, "In Field Labels" to configure the module. This module works the same way as Compact Forms, just add the form ID for the form you want to compact into the "Enabled forms" text area. So if we jump to Firefox, you can see that the "Create new account" and "Log in" form are compacted. So which module should you use? Well that's really up to you. The "Compact Forms" module allows you to configure more than just the label. For example, you can remove the required field marker, the star, and you can hide the field description. Whereas the "In Field Labels" module just places labels inside of form elements, and that's it.

JavaScript popup window

11:54
Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists http://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/01/javascript-popup-window_22.html In this video we will discuss, how to open a popup window using JavaScript. To open a popup window, use window.open() method. All the parameters are optional. window.open(URL, name, features, replace) URL - URL of the page to open. If URL is not specified, a new window with about:blank is opened name - Specifies the target attribute or the name of the window. _blank - URL is loaded into a new window. This is the default value if not specified. _parent - URL is loaded into the parent frame _self - URL replaces the current page _top - URL replaces any framesets that may be loaded name - name of the window features - Must be a comma-separated list. Some of the browsers does not support these features. menubar (yes/no) - Shows or hides the browser menu toolbar (yes/no) - Shows or hides the browser navigation bar location (yes/no) - Shows or hides the address field status (yes/no) - Shows or hides the status bar resizable (yes/no) - Whether or not the window is resizable scrollbars (yes/no) - Whether or not to display scroll bars top(pixels) - The top position of the window left(pixels) - The left position of the window height (pixels) - The height of the new window width (pixels) - The width of the new window replace - Specifies whether the URL creates a new entry or replaces the current entry in the browser history. Works only if the url is loaded into the same window. true - URL replaces the current document in the browser history list false - URL creates a new entry in the browser history list No parameters are passed to window.open() method. Since URL is not specified, a new window with about:blank will be opened. [input type="button" value="Open popup" onclick="window.open()" /] Most modern browsers open new tabs instead of separate windows. If you want to open the popup in a new window, one workaround I have found is to specify the URL, name, and features(height and width) parameters. This may not work in all browsers and it also depends on user's browser preferences. [input type="button" value="Open popup" onclick="window.open('http://google.com', '_blank', 'height=200,width=200')" /] When name parameter is set to _self, the new window replaces the current window [input type="button" value="Open popup" onclick="window.open('http://google.com', '_self')" /] Specify where you want the new popup window to be positioned using top and left features. [input type="button" value="Open popup" onclick="window.open('http://google.com', 'My Window', 'height=300,width=300, top=400, left=400')" /] Disable scrollbars and resizing. Works in IE but not in Chrome. [input type="button" value="Open popup" onclick="window.open('http://google.com', 'My Window', 'height=300,width=300, scrollbars=no, resizable=no')" /] To close pouup use window.close() method. [input type="button" value="Open popup" onclick="openPopup()" /] [input type="button" value="Close popup" onclick="closePopup()" /] [script type="text/javascript"] var popup; function openPopup() { popup = window.open("http://google.com","My Window", "height=300,width=300") } function closePopup() { popup.close(); } [/script]
