New York Stock Exchange: Jobs, Listings, Market, Margin Debt, Rules, Stocks (1998)

30:06
The New York Stock Exchange (sometimes referred to as "the Big Board") provides a means for buyers and sellers to trade shares of stock in companies registered for public trading. The NYSE is open for trading Monday through Friday from 9:30 am – 4:00 pm ET, with the exception of holidays declared by the Exchange in advance. The NYSE trades in a continuous auction format, where traders can execute stock transactions on behalf of investors. They will gather around the appropriate post where a specialist broker, who is employed by a NYSE member firm (that is, he/she is not an employee of the New York Stock Exchange), acts as an auctioneer in an open outcry auction market environment to bring buyers and sellers together and to manage the actual auction. They do on occasion (approximately 10% of the time) facilitate the trades by committing their own capital and as a matter of course disseminate information to the crowd that helps to bring buyers and sellers together. The auction process moved toward automation in 1995 through the use of wireless hand held computers (HHC). The system enabled traders to receive and execute orders electronically via wireless transmission. On September 25, 1995, NYSE member Michael Einersen, who designed and developed this system, executed 1000 shares of IBM through this HHC ending a 203-year process of paper transactions and ushering in an era of automated trading. As of January 24, 2007, all NYSE stocks can be traded via its electronic hybrid market (except for a small group of very high-priced stocks). Customers can now send orders for immediate electronic execution, or route orders to the floor for trade in the auction market. In the first three months of 2007, in excess of 82% of all order volume was delivered to the floor electronically.[31] NYSE works with US regulators like the SEC and CFTC to coordinate risk management measures in the electronic trading environment through the implementation of mechanisms like circuit breakers and liquidity replenishment points.[32] Until 2005, the right to directly trade shares on the exchange was conferred upon owners of the 1366 "seats". The term comes from the fact that up until the 1870s NYSE members sat in chairs to trade. In 1868, the number of seats was fixed at 533, and this number was increased several times over the years. In 1953, the number of seats was set at 1,366. These seats were a sought-after commodity as they conferred the ability to directly trade stock on the NYSE, and seat holders were commonly referred to as members of the NYSE. The Barnes family is the only known lineage to have five generations of NYSE members: Winthrop H. Barnes (admitted 1894), Richard W.P. Barnes (admitted 1926), Richard S. Barnes (admitted 1951), Robert H. Barnes (admitted 1972), Derek J. Barnes (admitted 2003). Seat prices varied widely over the years, generally falling during recessions and rising during economic expansions. The most expensive inflation-adjusted seat was sold in 1929 for $625,000, which, today, would be over six million dollars. In recent times, seats have sold for as high as $4 million in the late 1990s and as low as $1 million in 2001. In 2005, seat prices shot up to $3.25 million as the exchange entered into an agreement to merge with Archipelago and become a for-profit, publicly traded company. Seat owners received $500,000 in cash per seat and 77,000 shares of the newly formed corporation. The NYSE now sells one-year licenses to trade directly on the exchange. Licenses for floor trading are available for $40,000 and a license for bond trading is available for as little as $1,000 as of 2010.[33] Neither are resell-able, but may be transferable in during the change of ownership of a cooperation holding a trading license. Following the Black Monday market crash in 1987, NYSE imposed trading curbs to reduce market volatility and massive panic sell-offs. Following the 2011 rule change, at the start of each trading day, the NYSE sets three circuit breaker levels at levels of 7% (Level 1), 13% (Level 2), and 20% (Level 3) of the average closing price of the S&P 500 for the preceding trading day. Level 1 and Level 2 declines result in a 15-minute trading halt unless they occur after 3:25pm, when no trading halts apply. A Level 3 decline results in trading being suspended for the remainder of the day.[34] (The biggest one-day decline in the S&P 500 since 1987 was the 9.0% drop on October 15, 2008.) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Stock_Exchange

How Does Floor Trading Work on the New York Stock Exchange - Wall Street Stock Market

29:28
Floor trading is where traders or stockbrokers meet at a specific venue referred to as a trading floor or pit to buy and sell financial instruments using open outcry method to communicate with each other. More on stock trading: https://www.amazon.com/gp/search?ie=UTF8&tag=doc06-20&linkCode=ur2&linkId=3b70391c913a3a0dc8e7add5852ad72a&camp=1789&creative=9325&index=books&keywords=stock%20trading These venues are typically stock exchanges or futures exchanges and transactions are executed by members of such an exchange using specific language or hand signals. During the 1980s and 1990s phone and electronic trading replaced physical floor trading in most exchanges around the world. As of 2007 few exchanges still have floor trading. One example is the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) which still executes a small percentage of its trades on the floor. That means that the traders actually form a group around the post on the floor of the market for the specialist, someone that works for one of the NYSE member firms and handles the stock. Just like in an auction, there are shouts coming from those that want to sell and those that want to buy. The specialist facilitates in the match and centralizing the trades. On January 24, 2007, the NYSE went from being strictly an auction market to a hybrid market that encompassed both the auction method and an electronic trading method that immediately makes the trade electronically. A small group of extremely high-priced stocks isn't on this trading system and is still auctioned on the trading floor. Even though over 82 percent of the trades take place electronically, the action on the floor of the stock exchange still has its place. While electronic trading is faster and provides for anonymity, there's more opportunity to improve the price of a share if it goes to the floor. Investors maintain the right to select the method they want to use. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floor_trading On October 19, 1987, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) dropped 508 points, a 22.6% loss in a single day, the second-biggest one-day drop the exchange had experienced. Black Monday was followed by Terrible Tuesday, a day in which the Exchange's systems did not perform well and some people had difficulty completing their trades. Subsequently, there was another major drop for the Dow on October 13, 1989; the Mini-Crash of 1989. The crash was apparently caused by a reaction to a news story of a $6.75 billion leveraged buyout deal for UAL Corporation, the parent company of United Airlines, which broke down. When the UAL deal fell through, it helped trigger the collapse of the junk bond market causing the Dow to fall 190.58 points, or 6.91 percent. Similarly, there was a panic in the financial world during the year of 1997; the Asian Financial Crisis. Like the fall of many foreign markets, the Dow suffered a 7.18% drop in value (554.26 points) on October 27, 1997, in what later became known as the 1997 Mini-Crash but from which the DJIA recovered quickly. This was the first time that the "circuit breaker" rule had operated. On January 26, 2000, an altercation during filming of the music video for "Sleep Now in the Fire", which was directed by Michael Moore, caused the doors of the exchange to be closed and the band Rage Against the Machine to be escorted from the site by security[15] after band members attempted to gain entry into the exchange.[16] Trading on the exchange floor, however, continued uninterrupted.[17] In the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the NYSE was closed for 4 trading sessions, one of the longest times the NYSE was closed for more than one session; only the third time since March 1933. On May 6, 2010, the Dow Jones Industrial Average posted its largest intraday percentage drop since the October 19, 1987 crash, with a 998 point loss later being called the 2010 Flash Crash (as the drop occurred in minutes before rebounding). The SEC and CFTC published a report on the event, although it did not come to a conclusion as to the cause. The regulators found no evidence that the fall was caused by erroneous ("fat finger") orders.[18] On October 29, 2012, the stock exchange was shut down for 2 days due to Hurricane Sandy.[19] The last time the stock exchange was closed due to weather for a full two days was on March 12 and 13 in 1888.[20] On May 1, 2014 the stock exchange was fined $4.5 million "to settle charges it violated market rules, the Securities and Exchange Commission said Thursday." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Stock_Exchange

On February 15, 2011 NYSE and Deutsche Börse announced their merger to form a new company, as yet unnamed, wherein Deutsche Börse shareholders will have 60% ownership of the new entity, and NYSE Euronext shareholders will have 40%. On February 1, 2012, the European Commission blocked the merger of NYSE with Deutsche Börse, after commissioner Joaquin Almunia stated that the merger "would have led to a near-monopoly in European financial derivatives worldwide".[38] Instead, Deutsche Börse and NYSE will have to sell either their Eurex derivatives or LIFFE shares in order to not create a monopoly. On February 2, 2012, NYSE Euronext and Deutsche Börse agreed to scrap the merger.[39] In April 2011, IntercontinentalExchange (ICE), an American futures exchange, and NASDAQ OMX Group had together made an unsolicited proposal to buy NYSE Euronext for approximately US$11 billion, a deal in which NASDAQ would have taken control of the stock exchanges.[40] NYSE Euronext rejected this offer two times, but it was finally terminated after the United States Department of Justice indicated their intention to block the deal due to antitrust concerns. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Stock_Exchange

What is The NYSE (New York Stock Exchange) ?

01:48
Welcome to the Investors Trading Academy talking glossary of financial terms and events. Our word of the day is the “NYSE” The New York Stock Exchange, often referred to as NYSE and "The Big Board," is the largest stock exchange by market capitalization in the world. Home to more than 2,800 companies with a combined value of more than $15 trillion, the NYSE relies on face-to-face trades, rather than electronic trades. The NYSE began in 1792, when 24 stockbrokers gathered under a buttonwood tree on Wall Street to sign an agreement that established the rules for buying and selling bonds and shares of companies. This agreement, or the Buttonwood Agreement, was named after the tree. The NYSE is the oldest and largest stock exchange in the U.S., located on Wall Street in New York City. The NYSE is responsible for setting policy, supervising member activities, listing securities, overseeing the transfer of member seats, and evaluating applicants. Unlike some of the newer exchanges, the NYSE still uses a large trading floor in order to conduct its transactions. It is here that the representatives of buyers and sellers, professionals known as brokers, meet and shout out prices at one another in order to strike a deal. This is called the open outcry system and it usually produces fair market pricing. In order to facilitate the exchange of stocks, the NYSE employs individuals called specialists who are assigned to manage the buying and selling of specific stocks and to buy those stocks when no one else will. BEHIND THE TICKER TAPE 1950s AMERICAN STOCK EXCHANGE HISTORY FILM 87554 MD

20:24
Dating from 1957, "Behind the Ticker Tape" is a wonderful film that tells the story of the American Stock Exchange (now NYSE), showing how securities sales have evolved over the years, and giving a profile of the ASE at the height of its activity. NYSE MKT LLC, formerly known as the American Stock Exchange (AMEX), is an American stock exchange situated in New York City, New York. AMEX was previously a mutual organization, owned by its members. Until 1953, it was known as the New York Curb Exchange. The film begins with shots of the AMEX floor including the visitor's gallery, where the public could watch the frenzied exchange of stock. Hand signals are seen at 1:08, resulting in the sale of thousands of dollars of stock. At 1:30, a new broker who has just achieved a seat on the exchange, is shown arriving for work. His mentors talk to him about how to handle stock purchasing customers and how to counsel investors. At 4:30, the Gold Rush is shown, and there is a discussion of how the stock market helps American commerce grow and thrive. At 5:00 the so-called "curb market" is re-enacted on the streets of Manhattan. At 6:00, the curb market on Wall Street caused a change of venue, to 44 Broad Street, but the trading posts were still outside. At 7:30, the 1908 meeting of leading brokers to form the "New York Curb Agency", which was the forerunner of the AMEX. At 9:20, the arrival of the telephone revolutionized stock trading, but also (as the film shows) caused chaos. At 11:45, the development of the use of hand gestures to conduct sales is shown, as well as colorful hats. At 14:00, the modern stock market of the 1920s-1950s is shown. At 14:50, the ticker tape machine is shown and its use explained. The use of teletypes is also shown in the placing of a buy order. At 15:53, an annunciator board is used to get the attention of a broker for the order and an order is placed. The film ends with a discussion of the future, showing the AMEX building at 19:00 and describing its "lightning fast" communications network where the "future is being born". These brokers often traded stocks that were speculative in nature. With the discovery of oil in the latter half of the 19th century, even oil stocks entered into the curb market. By 1865, following the American Civil War, stocks in small industrial companies, such as iron and steel, textiles and chemicals were first sold by curbstone brokers. Efforts to organize and standardize the market started early in the 20th century under Emanuel S. Mendels and Carl H. Pforzheimer.. In 1908, the New York Curb Market Agency was established, to codify trading practices. In 1911, the curbstone brokers came to be known as the New York Curb Market, which then had a formal constitution with brokerage and listing standards. After several years of outdoor trading, the curbstone brokers moved indoors in 1921 to New York Curb Exchange Building on Greenwich Street in Lower Manhattan. In 1929, the New York Curb Market changed its name to the New York Curb Exchange. Within no time, the Curb Exchange became the leading international stock market, listing more foreign issues than all other U.S. securities markets combined. In 1953 the Curb Exchange was renamed the American Stock Exchange. We encourage viewers to add comments and, especially, to provide additional information about our videos by adding a comment! Tracking Narendra Modi's State-wise Popularity Ahead of Lok Sabha Polls | Political Stock Exchange

Inside Bombay Stock Exchange - BSE

01:02
BSE Bombay Stock Exchange, Dalal Street, Bombay. This is where ALL the action takes place in Mumbai! Even after the city's name was changed to Mumbai, they have gladly not changed it to the MBE. Imagine calling it the Mumbai Stock Exchange. It just doesn't sound right! As per Wikipedia: The Bombay Stock Exchange is the oldest exchange in Asia. It traces its history to the 1850s, when four Gujarati and one Parsi stockbroker would gather under banyan trees in front of Mumbai's Town Hall. The location of these meetings changed many times, as the number of brokers constantly increased. The group eventually moved to Dalal Street in 1874 and in 1875 became an official organization known as 'The Native Share & Stock Brokers Association'. In 1956, the BSE became the first stock exchange to be recognized by the Indian Government under the Securities Contracts Regulation Act. The Bombay Stock Exchange developed the BSE SENSEX in 1986, giving the BSE a means to measure overall performance of the exchange. In 2000 the BSE used this index to open its derivatives market, trading SENSEX futures contracts. The development of SENSEX options along with equity derivatives followed in 2001 and 2002, expanding the BSE's trading platform. Historically an open outcry floor trading exchange, the Bombay Stock Exchange switched to an electronic trading system in 1995. It took the exchange only fifty days to make this transition. This automated, screen-based trading platform called BSE On-line trading (BOLT) currently has a capacity of 8 million orders per day. The BSE has also introduced the world's first centralized exchange-based internet trading system, BSEWEBx.co.in to enable investors anywhere in the world to trade on the BSE platform. The BSE is currently housed in Phiroze Jeejeebhoy Towers at Dalal Street, Fort area. 1960s PRINCIPLES OF INVESTING STOCK EXCHANGE / BROKERAGE PROMOTIONAL FILM 40264 MD

27:32
This color educational film THE LADY AND THE STOCK EXCHANGE was produced for the New York Stock Exchange in the late 1950s or early 1960s, based on the female character’s clothing. It features well-known actors Janet Blair as Marge (:14), Eddie Bracken as Bertram (:20), Jim Backus as Jess (:46), and Everett Sloane as Mr. Huntley (3:13). The premise is Marge and Bertram have inherited $4,500 (half of Bert’s annual salary), which they separately seek to invest. This allows the principles of investing to be discussed in conversations. Marge secretly visits Mr. Huntley, a broker. He explains that wise investing involves only using extra money, having a savings account, and taking your time to plan a sound investment strategy (4:00-5:36). Behind Marge’s back, Uncle Jess has convinced Bert to invest the money with a promised big profit, based on ‘reliable’ insider information (5:37-6:17). Back at the brokerage, Mr. Huntley explains that the money shouldn’t be placed in a single investment so he asks the company’s research department to provide her multiple reports to study before making a decision (6:17-7:15). His conversation on the phone indicates that some stocks sold outside of a broker are done so illegally and should be reported to the Security and Exchange Commission (7:32-7:59). He explains to Marge the wisdom of using a monthly investment plan to make an initial investment and keep buying stock on a regular basis; as little as $3 a week (8:18-8:48). An institutional order valued at $200,000 is placed as Marge stands there (9:38). Marge researches the information and places her order for stock in two companies with Mr. Huntley. She has four business days to provide the money (15:23-15:47). Mr. Huntley takes her with him to the New York Stock Exchange, where real footage of traders on the floor are shown buying and selling securities. The entire process is explained, emphasizing the rules, such as no handshakes (15:59-19:20), and a tour guide reaffirms that even international stocks are included. Out to dinner, Marge tells Bertram she’s bought stock and he admits he’s already invested it in a sure thing. She is furious. He gets his money back before Jess invests it (23:50-25:49). They go together and meet with Mr. Huntley to make the payment for the stocks (26:00). We encourage viewers to add comments and, especially, to provide additional information about our videos by adding a comment! See something interesting? Tell people what it is and what they can see by writing something for example like: "01:00:12:00 -- President Roosevelt is seen meeting with Winston Churchill at the Quebec Conference." This film is part of the Periscope Film LLC archive, one of the largest historic military, transportation, and aviation stock footage collections in the USA. Entirely film backed, this material is available for licensing in 24p HD and 2k. For more information visit http://www.PeriscopeFilm.com

June 12, 2015 Financial News - Business News - Stock Exchange - NYSE - Market News CLICK HERE➡ ➡ http://FinancialBuzz.com Business News - Financial News - Stock News -- New York Stock Exchange -- Market News 2015 Business News - Financial News - Stock Exchange -- Wall Street -- Market News - New York Stock Exchange 2015 On Monday, traders didn’t have much economic news to consider, so old worries about Greece’s debt situation returned. Airlines declined on fears of excess capacity driving passenger revenue per seat mile lower. Stocks closed near session lows, with NASDAQ declining almost 1%. On Tuesday, the Labor Department released its job opening report, also known as JOLTS, and it showed the highest numbers since the report was created back in 2000. For April there were almost 5.4 million job openings, and year over year, job openings are up 22%. Bond yields held firm and banks rallied, however, markets overall didn't do much. On Wednesday, renewed hopes for a deal with Greece sent stocks soaring. In addition, 10 year Treasury yields almost hit 2.5%, and gains in oil also boosted energy stocks. The major indexes closed up well over 1% with the Dow Industrials up 236 points. On Thursday, jobless claims for the week ending June 6 were up 2,000 to 279,000. Also released was retail sales for May, showing a 1.2% gain, a nice improvement from April’s 0% number. Markets closed the day modestly higher. On Friday the producer price index for May was up .5%, on the high end of expectations, due to increases in gas and food prices. However, Greece's debt negotiations stalled as the IMF walked out of the talks. Markets opened down sharply on the news. Now let’s take a look at some stocks. Deutsche Bank shares spiked at the start of the trading week to $32.40 after the bank appointed John Cryan, former CFO of UBS, to be the new CEO. The German bank’s current co-CEO’s decided to resign due to investor dissatisfaction with the bank’s performance. Etsy, Inc. shares, the peer-to-peer e-commerce website, rallied this week following Tiger Global Management’s decision to be the first firm to up their stake, post-IPO. Tiger Global purchased 10 million shares, increase their ownership from 6.4% to 8.9%. Quiksilver Inc. stock tumbled this week following the release of disappointing 2nd quarter earnings. The company reported a loss of $37 million or $0.22 per share while analysts expected a loss of only $0.14 per share. Additionally, the company revised their outlook stating that due to currency values and other variables, North American sales will suffer. Hess Corporation shares rallied more than 5% Thursday following reports that that energy company has agreed to sell a 50% stake of their processing and pipeline business to Global Infrastructure Partners for approximately $2.7 billion in an all-cash deal. The companies will be forming a joint venture called Hess Infrastructure Partners. The Men’s Warehouse, Inc. caught investors’ eyes on Thursday following a better-than-expected earnings report that topped estimates for both revenue and earnings. The company posted sales of $885 million, and earnings of $0.54 per share, and also announced a 10-year deal with Macy’s to operate a tuxedo rental business within 300 of Macy’s stores. The First Female Stockbroker | Victoria Woodhull

01:17
March is Women's History Month. And since our offices are across from the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), we thought we'd showcase on the women that have made their mark on the exchanges. Last week you met, Muriel Siebert, the first woman to have a seat on the NYSE in 1967, but way before that, there were other women rocking wall street. So this week meet Victoria Woodhull. She and her sister were the first female stockbrokers on Wall St. and they actually opened their own brokerage firm. That was back in 1870. But and you can only imagine the sensationalism that was created around "women" actually having jobs back then. But that didn't stop them. Woodhull went on to complete many more "firsts" and paved the way for so many women. We went unto Wall Street, not particularly because I wanted to be a broker, but because I wanted to plant the flag of women's rebellion in the center of the continent." In Conversation:David Webb

22:00
STEPHEN DAVIES: "Do you think the functional constituency idea, as it's been implemented in Hong Kong, is in principle okay, or do you think, like many thoughtful people, the functional constituencies should never been there in the first place? " DAVID WEBB: "It's just not a sensible way to construct your government. We don't bother with lobby groups in Hong Kong because we give them their own seats in the congress or parliament, and that's not a sensible way forward." This week Stephen Davies is "In Conversation" with David Webb, a former investment banker who spent 12 years in the field, seven of them in Hong Kong. Today, as a financial analyst and activist, he is sometimes referred to as the financial sector's "Long Hair", in reference to legislator Leung Kwok-hung. Since retiring from investment banking in 1998, he has set up the website Webb-site.com, the aim of which is to ensure greater transparency in Hong Kong's financial sector and - by implication -- its government. The site features reports and articles on corporate and economic governance, business, finance, investment, and legal and regulatory affairs. It is also the home of the Webb-site Who's Who, a detailed database on companies, organisations, and people in Hong Kong and elsewhere, sourced from the public domain. It contains more than 100,000 names and also tracks appointments to government advisory bodies to illuminate. David Webb believes there's a long history of collusion between government and business in Hong Kong , allowing some areas of Hong Kong's financial activities to be run almost like private fiefdoms. In terms of Hong Kong's economic and political development he feels that too much emphasis is being placed on public nomination for the 2017 Chief Executive election and not enough on the 2016 Legco election, which is not only a stepping stone to the 2020 election, but also to the potential shape and make-up of the nominating committee in 2017. It is vital, he says, to dilute the power of special interests and functional constituencies in Legco. Currently, even the financial sector is not fairly represented: "What is called the financial services legislator is actually the small brokers' legislator because there are, not individuals, but about 500 companies that have a vote, many of which have common parent companies. And it's based on the original trading seats on the Stock Exchange, and that's about 500 electorate in total, but there are 30,000 people with a current SFC licence who have been entrusted to handle your money but are not entrusted to vote for the legislator in that seat ... We need to be realistic about what we can do to dilute the FCs in 2016 and have a really representative nominating committee in 2017." DAVID WEBB

Weekly FX Recap: Bullish Dollar in the Driver’s Seat this Week against the Majors | 📊 Ross Mullins

💡The US Dollar refused to be defeated in a long and challenging week for retail traders with no other option than going long 'the greenback' against the Euro, Pound, and Canadian dollar. On the other hand, Gold was 'punched in the face' after clocking a monthly high at $1303 level, then initiated a pullback to find itself trading below $1280 level. NYSE to merge with Archipelago electronic exchange

SOUNDBITE (English): John Thain, New York Stock Exchange Chief Executive: "This transaction, transforming the New York Stock Exchange into a public, for-profit entity, is an essential step to maintaining our global competitiveness and leadership." 4. Floor of New York Stock Exchange Chief Executive 5. SOUNDBITE (English): Jerry Putnam, ArcaEx Chairman and CEO (Chief Executive Officer): "We positioned ourselves to offer investors a choice, and given that choice those that prefer all electronic trading will find their way to our system, and the benefits of the floor and auction model that benefits traders today will also exist. I think we've enhanced the offering." 6. Traders on floor of New York Stock Exchange (traders are applauding for one of their retiring members who is ringing closing bell, not because of today's deal) 7. Thain and Putnam end press briefing and shake hands STORYLINE: The New York Stock Exchange announced on Wednesday a merger with all-electronic rival Archipelago Holdings Inc. - a move that will transform it into a for-profit, publicly traded enterprise. The deal answers one of the pressing needs facing the New York Stock Exchange, which has battled increasing competition from all-electronic exchanges like the Nasdaq Stock Market as well as the Archipelago Exchange. According to the official Archipelago Holdings, Inc. website, Archipelago Exchange (ArcaEx), is "the nation's (USA) first totally open, all electronic stock market." The New York Stock Exchange now conducts its transactions through a specialist auction system, in which trades are made through people on its selling floor. The seat holders of the New York Stock Exchange will receive four-hundred (m) million US dollars in cash and 70 per cent of the shares in the new company. Archipelago's shareholders will retain 30 per cent of the shares. At a news conference New York Stock Exchange Chief Executive John Thain said the move was an "essential step" for the future of the stock exchange. The new entity will be a holding company to be called New York Stock Exchange Group Inc. It will spin off the New York Stock Exchange's regulatory arm - recently invigorated after coming under intense criticism for failing to stem a floor-trading scandal - into a not-for-profit oversight entity. That part of the deal answers the demands of some New York Stock Exchange members who have been agitating for the exchange to turn for-profit in order to better compete as a business. ArcaEx (Archipelago Exchange) Chairman and CEO Jerry Putnam said the merger would create new opportunities for the New York Stock Exchange Group to expand its trading into other areas, including options and other equity derivatives. The exchange will not trade Nasdaq Stock Market-listed stocks on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, but will continue to trade them through ArcaEx's electronic market. The 213 year-old New York Stock Exchange is a not-for-profit institution, privately owned by seat holders who have long been lobbying for the New York Stock Exchange to become for-profit and go public in a stock offering. Securities Exchange Market Declines

02:56
The Uganda Security Exchange market has declined and performed lower than expected, due to economic setbacks that the country is going through. According to Paul Bwiso, the Chief Executive Officer at Uganda Securities Exchange, a number of investors suffered shortfalls in their trade turnover and were reluctant to invest in shares. Inability to access information also accounted for the shortfall and as such, the Uganda Security Exchange has established an online easy portal that it believes will help investors to easily access necessary information;

Wide exterior of Karachi Stock Exchange STORYLINE Pakistani stocks suffered their largest-ever drop in early trading on Monday as an uncertain political outlook after the assassination of opposition leader Benazir Bhutto triggered a selling spree. The benchmark Karachi Stock Exchange's 100-share index plunged by 4.7 percent shortly after opening for the first time since a three-day period of national mourning that followed Bhutto's Thursday death. "The reaction was obviously negative and the market is very close to its highest negative level and maybe if it will be more than 50 plus then the market will be closed," Javeed Majid, a trading agent said. Atif Malik, an analyst at J.S. Global Securities, said shares could recover in coming days if opposition parties reach an accord on holding parliamentary elections that had been set for 8 January. It is not yet known if the government will postpone the election. Many international markets also fell last week after Bhutto was killed at a campaign rally, adding to global uncertainty about the tense situation in Pakistan. Lower Manhattan is home to the New York Stock Exchange, on Wall Street, and the corporate headquarters of NASDAQ, at 165 Broadway, representing the world's largest and second largest stock exchanges, respectively, when measured both by overall average daily trading volume and by total market capitalization of their listed companies in 2013. The borough is coterminous with New York County, founded on November 1, 1683 as one of the original counties of the U.S. state of New York. The borough consists mostly of Manhattan Island, bounded by the East, Hudson, and Harlem Rivers, and also includes several small adjacent islands and Marble Hill, a small neighborhood on the U.S. mainland. Many multinational media conglomerates are based in the borough. It is historically documented to have been purchased by Dutch colonists from Native Americans in 1626, for 60 guilders or about $24 in 1626 and US$1050 today. Manhattan real estate has since become among the most expensive in the world, with the value of Manhattan Island, including real estate, estimated to exceed US$3 trillion in 2013; residential property sale prices in Manhattan typically exceeded US$1,400 per square foot ($15,000/m2) as of 2016. Many districts and landmarks in Manhattan have become well known, as New York City received a record of nearly 60 million tourists in 2015, and Manhattan hosts three of the world's 10 most-visited tourist attractions in 2013: Times Square, Central Park, and Grand Central Terminal. The borough hosts many world-renowned bridges, such as the Brooklyn Bridge; skyscrapers such as the Empire State Building, one of the tallest skyscrapers in the world; and parks, such as Central Park. There are many historically significant places in Manhattan: Chinatown incorporates the highest concentration of Chinese people in the Western Hemisphere, and the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village is considered the birthplace of the modern gay rights movement. The City of New York was founded at the southern tip of Manhattan, and the borough houses New York City Hall, the seat of the City's Government. World stock markets lost $ 4.2 trillion.

05:17
World stock markets lost $ 4.2 trillion. While global markets have been experiencing a difficult year due to bond market agitation, trade war fears, and geopolitical risks, the value of the world stock market has reached $ 4.2 trillion by the end of the month from the end of January to the end of May. The biggest loss was $ 563.4 billion in the Chinese stock market, one of the main actors of the "trade war". In financial markets, investors faced developments that pointed to a "tough" one in the first half after 2017, when Donald Trump's decisions in the US presidential seat, political tensions between the US and North Korea, and the start of the Brexit process officially began. .    After the entry of the new yuan, the market value of the stock exchanges also declined as a result of the developments in the "trade war" between the US and China through customs taxation, the rapid rise in bond interest rates, and the increasing volatility of the geopolitical risks that did not fall on the agenda.   According to the World Stock Exchange Federation (WFE) data, the value of world stock markets, which was 89 trillion 831 billion 194 million dollars at the end of January, was down to 85 trillion 583 billion 232 million dollars.   In the meantime, while the value of world stock exchanges decreased by 4.7%, this pointed to 4 trillion 247 billion 962 million dollars.   VALUE VALUE FOR US BORROWINGS   Among the world stock exchanges, the stock market which has the highest market value in the period from the end of January to the end of May has been Shanghai in China. In this period, the value of the Shanghai stock market was 5 trillion 569 billion 909 million dollars, down 5 trillion 5 billion 477 million dollars.   The fact that China is one of the chief actors of the year's most controversial agenda for the "trade war" came to the forefront as the most important factor in the Shanghai stock market's depreciation of $ 563 billion 432 million. The percentage of this loss is calculated as 10.1 percent.    Following Shanghai, Euronext was founded in Paris by the merger of stock exchange, Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam stock exchanges with the highest value on the basis of quantity. Euronext's value decreased by 7.2 percent to 4 trillion 357 billion 785 million dollars in the same period.   The market value of the Japan Exchange Group declined by 4.6 percent to $ 6 trillion 219 billion 793 million dollars, which was in the third place on the stock market's most depreciated list.   During the first two of the list of market value increase, the US stock exchanges of New York and Nasdaq took place. In other words, stock market value increased by 362.4 billion dollars and 106.3 billion dollars in the 4 months period from the end of January to the end of May.   THE MOST FAST GROWING STOCK IN MARKET VALUE   Bermuda was the fastest growing stock market among the world stock exchanges between the end of January and the end of May. The market value of the Bermuda stock market increased 41.3 percent to $ 3 billion 842 million from $ 2 719 million.    Bermuda was followed by Cyprus with 26.3 percent and Panama Stock Exchange with 12.1 percent.   Argentina's Bolsa de Comercio de Buenos Aires was the stock market with 40.4 percent, the fastest-falling stock market in the period in question. At the end of January, Argentina's market value, which was $ 112.6 billion, fell to $ 67.1 billion at the end of May.   THE WORLD'S WORLD NEW YORK BORROW    The New York Stock Exchange, which has the largest market value among world stock exchanges, also maintained its position by the end of May. The New York Stock Exchange, which had a size of 22 trillion 755 billion 496 million dollars at the end of January, increased its size by 1.6 percent at the end of May and carried 23 trillion 117 billion 81 million dollars.   During this period, Nasdaq OMX increased its market value by 1 percent to 10 trillion 929 billion 638 million dollars.    In terms of size of market value, Japan Exchange Group ranked third with 6 trillion 219 billion 793 million dollars among world stock exchanges.

Bombay Stock Exchange - BSE

00:22
BSE Bombay Stock Exchange, Dalal Street, Bombay.
