Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, to enjoy a better life | Educational Video for Kids.

The three Rs Hello I am the Earth, yup the very planet you live on. There are three words which start with the letter R which I love. They are: Reduce, reuse and recycle. Do you know why I love them so much? Because they are almost magical words. Together they can make all living things as well as myself be happier. I said that they are “almost” magical because without your help it won't work, they need all of you children in order to do the trick. Each and every one of you are the real 3Rs magicians, those three words which can change the world. Do you want to know how? Yes? Well let's find out. The first R is for reduce. If you think about it, there are many things you don’t need. When you go to the supermarket, I am sure you could take your own canvas bags instead of using disposable ones given to you. This way you will be reducing the amount of plastic which is very contaminating. And I am sure that you don’t need to print out so many documents or photos, nor leave the lights, television or computer on when you are not using them. If you remember this, you will be reducing the amount of paper being used as well as energy, and in turn will be helping reduce the contamination. And these are just a few examples. I am sure you can think of many more different ways to reduce what you are using or creating unnecessary waste. The following question will help you with this task: Do I really need this or is this just a whim? The second R is for recycling. Now it is easier than ever to recycle things we don’t need any more so that they can be reused. Near your home you can find places, like the recycling station and containers for cans, plastic, paper or organic waste. They each have their specific colors to make them easier. By using them, you will avoid contaminating nature, the rivers and seas as well as the atmosphere, which is the air we breathe. And finally we have the third R, which refers to reuse. How many things do you think we can reuse again and again instead of throwing them away? Let´s see…a piece of paper that has only one side printed on it, a carton box, a plastic bottle…you think now. With just a bit of imagination, I am sure you will come up with many more exciting and fun new uses for them. And remember: if you apply the 3Rs rule, you will make me a much cleaner planet, with less contamination and where we all can enjoy a better life. Because as you know…children can make the world of difference.

Recycling plastics – Resource efficiency with an optimized sorting method

15:52
In Germany alone, two and a half million tons of plastic packaging land in the yellow trash can. German households pre-sort their garbage into four separate trash cans; yellow for plastics, brown for compost; blue for paper and black for non-recyclables. Since the various plastics are very difficult to separate from one another, most of the material is utilized for energy. The new film from VDI Resource Efficiency Center, Recycling plastics – Resource efficiency with an optimized sorting method depicts an improved sorting and processing method for valuable plastics, bringing the plastics life cycle full circle. MEILO, a company in Gernsheim located in southern Hesse, sorts plastic trash from the yellow barrels in 30 repetitive sorting processes until the maximal purity of variety has been attained. Plastics are first separated according to size and then subjected to an air separator. In the following step, a near infrared scanner scans the plastics on the conveyor belt as they pass, communicating to a compressed air jet at the end of the conveyor belt which plastics are recyclable. Finally, the compressed air jet blows these material aside. Thus, varying plastics are sorted by an up to 98% purity of variety. In addition to the three major valuable plastics, HPDE, PP and PET, four other well-recyclable plastic varieties are gleaned from the river of trash. At Systec Plastics GmbH in Eisfeld, Thuringia, the plastics sorted by MEILO GmbH are further processed to produce a premium commodity for the plastics industry. Here, plastics are shredded and cleansed. Repeated circuits beneath a near LED scanner sort the plastic flakes according to color before they are melted and once more filtered. The 99% pure granules are then filled into containers and transported. Werner & Mertz GmbH, manufacturing laundry detergents and cleaning supplies, uses Systec Plastics GmbH granules to produce their packaging bottles. The granules are easily processed in Werner & Mertz GmbH’s standard production plants in Mainz. Their HDPE bottles and PP twist-off lids are made of 100% recycled plastics from the yellow trash can. Their PET bottles are composed of 20% recycled PET from yellow trash cans and 80% recycled plastic from deposit bottles. The plastic life cycle comes full circle, the raw materials are recovered. Recycling Facts for Kids - Why is Recycling Important?

05:44
The importance of recycling is something that we should be teaching the younger generation at a very early age. How to recycle for kids, what is recycling and recycling projects for kids are all areas we should be getting involved in (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_Ufbm5ZkBY) It's 'Our World' we all need to take care of it by educating children with recycling facts and the benefits of recycling, we are allowing them to see why recycling is just so important (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0769pw2_pY). This video explores the "reduce, reuse, recycle" symbol, gives interesting facts about recycling and explains the significance of the recycle logo. It helps to teach children to reuse and to understand the benefits of recycling. Recycling saves the planet in so many different ways, it saves the environment and at the same time it offers people jobs which they could fulfill, which means that it also helps with solving the problem of unemployment. Did you know that throwing away any box or bottle could do much damage to the planet? This is not just because you are throwing away one box or bottle - which is still something that could make a difference - but because you are not the only one living on this planet and there are billions of people who would also think in the same way. In the UK alone, there are 12.5 million tonnes of paper used and in order to obtain one tonne of newspaper, one will need to use 24 trees, which means that if people did not reduce what they are using and recycling it, they might at some point realize that all the trees they have been growing on the planet are not longer there. It is interesting to let kids know that recycling is not of an easy process that the things people use undergo, but there are some cases like paper for example which are considered easier than the others. Some plastic bottles for example could take up to 500 years to decompose, which means to break down, and this means that some plastic parts could stay around for 500 years, which will make pollution or even worse, they might kill the sea creatures if they are thrown in the ocean around the world, it could kill around 1 million creature - that is really a number that people should think about and start reconsidering once again. When it comes to recycling, there are lots of things for kids to know that might astonish them and these are usually related to the calculations that scientists and professional people do considering the things that people use every single day. One of these interesting facts that could give people the push to start reducing, reusing and recycling is about the number of plastic cups that they use on a daily basis and which could line the Earth planet if they are placed beside one another every single day. Recycling is very important, actually recycling one tonne of paper could save about 17 trees, 6,000 gallons of water and it produces less air pollution, all that of course comes in addition to the job vacancies that appear to the world and saves lots of those who are failing to find an appropriate job. The problem with not recycling is the consequences that would be carried on the planet. The paper that is not recycled could actually cause air pollution because it is buried in a landfill and the landfill rubbish rots and as it rots it can produce a dangerous greenhouse gas called methane, which could increase global warming (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-N5jb-fWTs). Recycling is very important and kids should understand from an early age that recycling could help them save the environment since recycling one glass bottle could actually save 50% less water and 20% less air pollution, which would be good steps taken along with other things that could be recycled and lots of other steps taken in saving the environment in general. It is not just about plastic and paper that could be recycled, but there are other materials that could go into the list as well, such as glass, metal, fabrics and electronics, so always consider recycling and how things could be recycled before moving forward with throwing away your things and know more whether they could be recycled or not. The interesting things which kids might not even believe is that the food and garden waste could be also recycled, which is the reason why people are always asked to separate their waste when they are throwing it away to separate everything and make it easier for the people who collect it to put every single type with the rest and place it directly to be recycled. Recycling is so important and it could save the environment and at the same time help people and reduce unemployment, so people should always consider reducing, reusing and recycling the things they use no matter what the material they are using is. Let your kids know more about recycling and what it is and give them what they need to know the importance of it. Send us your feedback about the video and tell us what did your kids think as well.

Bangalore-Treating kitchen waste water for reuse

04:08
Waste water emerging from the kitchen sink has high organic material from the food dishes as well as oil and grease from typical Indian cooking. This water can be treated with a simple oil and grease trap and a planted filter for reuse as garden water. Approximately 30 litres of water per person per day is used up in doing the dishes in a typical Indian home. The first thing to do is to trap the oil and grease which can be taken out occasionally and put into a compost heap. The food material is also allowed to settle down and separated from the rest of the water. This remaining water is oxygenated using a small aquarium bubbler. This cost Rs 250/- and is obviously a Chinese make. It also consumes less than a half unit of energy every day. About 100 litres to 120 litres of water can be treated and used to water the pots and the garden. If any water is in excess it can be used to recharge the ground through a small recharge well.

HOW TO REUSE TOYS IN UNBELIEVABLE THINGS

09:12
Over the past 30 years, humanity has spent a third of the resources available on Earth. Every year the consumption of resources increases by one and a half percent. Therefore, it is important to save natural resources, search for alternative resources, recycling of raw materials, reuse of waste. Every year the population throws away more and more packages, tires, household appliances. Today, the issue of waste reuse is again on the agenda. "Second life" of waste helps to save a significant amount of raw materials and energy. Each of us at home or in the country there are old plastic toys that do not seem to need, and throw them a pity. If you want to free up space in the pantry, but to keep expensive toys, and at the same time and decorate your home, you can give these favorite things a second life. We have prepared several ways for you. They will perfectly help the environment and update the interior of your home. For example, from small plastic figures painted in gold color can get the original handles for cabinets. And the usual table lamp can be decorated with a composition of unnecessary soldiers, painted with gold paint. From unnecessary figures of animals can make stylish decorations for wine bottles. The Story of Reuse

00:57
NOTE: This video only has music. There are no captions. What should you do when you don’t want something anymore? Well, you could throw it away, which means letting valuable resources waste away in landfills and contributing to climate change. Or you could recycle it, which means giving it a new life, preventing pollution, and saving energy. Or you could just reuse it! What you’re throwing away is valuable, not trash. Let’s Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! http://www2.epa.gov/recycle For more about EPA: http://www.epa.gov/ We accept comments according to our comment policy: http://blog.epa.gov/blog/comment-policy/
The Textile Reuse Programme: Building a Circular Eco-system for Clothing Resources

03:22
It's estimated that over 100 millions tonnes of clothing & textile waste ends up in New Zealand landfills each year releasing greenhouse gases, CO2 and methane, as they decompose. Each kilogram of this waste creates over 2kg of greenhouse gas emissions. For every kilogram recycled or reused, more emissions are saved than from paper, plastic, and glass recycling combined. The Textile Reuse Programme is a collaboration between industry, government and social enterprise building a circular eco-system for clothing resources. Our Partners, Alsco NZ, Barkers Menswear, Wellington Zoo, Deane Apparel and Wellington City Council, are leading the change that is so urgently needed. If you want to reduce clothing waste please get in touch by visiting our website http://www.textilereuse.com Thanks to our favourite film crew Sonder and Ākina Foundation for making this video possible.

Recycling for Kids | Recycling Plastic, Glass and Paper | Recycle Symbol

04:43
Recycling for Kids | Recycling Plastic, Glass and Paper | Recycle Symbol Let’s learn about recycling. Recycling is a process that involves improving disposable things. Or, it is a process to turn used waste and materials into useful products. The concept of recycling allows us to make our environment clean, as it keeps the collection of harmful bottles and materials at a minimum. In other terms, if you think about what is recycling—it is a process that involves converting wasted and useless materials into something useful, which could be used for later purposes. We should encourage recycling in our society, as it is responsible for keeping the environment free from any harmful materials, which cannot be decomposed into a natural landfill. Kids should know about recycling so they could take a step forward to make the environment clean. A majority of the recyclable items includes; bottles, wrappers, plastic containers, etc. Subscribe to our channel: https://goo.gl/iG2Bdr #TalentedAndGifted #LearnWithKidsAcademy Kids Academy Talented and Gifted Program for kids aged 2-10: ***** Connect with us on : App Store: https://smart.link/59833db06a6b8 Google Play: https://smart.link/597210af6eb83 Our website: http://www.kidsacademy.mobi Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/KidsAcademyC... Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Song For Kids | The 3 R's of Recycling

06:58
🍎 You're cordially invited to come check out our growing library of award-winning math video animations at https://www.numberock.com 🍎 Thank you for watching our Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Song For Kids. »»-------------¤-------------««»»-------------¤-------------«« Earth Day Video SUMMARY: This Earth Day show your students just how much we all think Mother Earth is worth with this fun electronic dance song that sounds like a Top 40 radio hit. It is chock full of ideas on how we can all pitch in to take care of our earth and give example after example of how we can reduce, reuse, and recycle in our daily lives. The three R’s of recycling will be in the mind of all your students as they go home singing this catchy song - simply give it a listen and you’ll see why! »»-------------¤-------------««»»-------------¤-------------«« Q. Where did you guys come from? A. Numberock is a project that I, Mr. Hehn, began as a 5th Grade math teacher of 7 years. It came together after years of experimenting with my lessons trying to figure out the best way to help my students retain the math concepts they were learning. Q. Does Numberock drive real results in the classroom? A. I knew I found the secret sauce when not only were my students retaining the concepts longer, they were singing the songs outside of the classroom during recess and at home with their parents during dinnertime. The songs were so catchy, my students couldn't get the math songs out of their head! During testing, I often found my students humming the melodies in order to jostle their memory of a rule or problem solving process. As we've all experienced, there is something about the power of music that allows us to retain information easier and for longer periods of time. Without getting into the finer details of multi-sensory learning and how it often helps the students who most need the help, the power of a catchy song is hard to deny. Q. I love your songs. Where can I experience more of what NUMBEROCK has to offer? We have additional teaching resources that are always expanding over at https://www.numberock.com. For the low price of $4.95/month, premium members gain access to video-aligned activities like worksheets, printable posters/anchor charts, task cards, self-graded assessments, games, and more. Coming Soon: 1. Self-Graded Assessments | These will soon be available for every Common Core and TEKS standard from 2nd-6th Grade so you'll be able to track and monitor student progress while your students complete standards-aligned quizzes that are integrated with the NUMBEROCK video they just watched. 2. Number Notes | Were currently working on creating exercises where students will be able to take notes artistically on printable templates featuring characters from the videos. Research has shown that this will help to integrate their artistic side side of the student's brain with the mathematical side of their brain which helps with long-term memory retention. Our own research has shown us that teacher's who use start using these templates love them! It seems to be a natural fit as we move beyond our unique auditory learning tools into visual learning tools, that when used in concert, cater to the different types of learners that you teach everyday. 🍎 Hope to see you at https://numberock.com! 🍎

Whole House Reuse | Exhibition Film

14:39
For more information about this project http://www.wholehousereuse.co.nz/ And for more about Rekindle http://www.rekindle.org.nz/ We are delighted to share this stunning film by Julian Vares about Whole House Reuse. This tells some of the story of the project, of a home that would have otherwise gone to waste but was instead turned into hundreds of beautifully crafted artifacts. Whole House Reuse involved the entire material of a single home, otherwise destined for waste, being deconstructed and transformed into beautiful and purposeful artefacts. Nearly 400 objects have been created by reusing every single piece of 19 Admirals Way, a 1920’s weatherboard home in New Brighton, Christchurch, which was scheduled for demolition in 2013. This celebrates design and craft as highly valuable tools that can address wasted resources. Over 250 people from around New Zealand and the world have invented ways of reusing these resources and the result is a huge collection of objects from a delicately carved taonga puoro by master carver Brian Flintoff, to a finely crafted backyard studio by artist Nic Moon and architectural designer Lyn Russell. The exhibition showcased original works by some of the country’s finest designers and craftspeople, school children, students, retired experts, and community organisations like Kilmarnock Enterprises. The project culminated in an exhibition in the Special Exhibitions Hall at Canterbury Museum, Christchurch, New Zealand for 3 months from early June 2015. Over 120,000 people visited the exhibition and we have been amazed at how many of these visitors have talked about the degree of emotion in their experience of the exhibit. People particularly described the impact of seeing such a large volume and diversity of careful and creative work made from materials so often forgotten and discarded. We are thankful to Canterbury Museum for making this possible, and feel deeply heartened that this project has touched and inspired people towards a greater level of resourcefulness.

DIY - Reuse Brine from Store-Bought Pickles to Pickle Cucumbers. Save Money & Resources!

07:22
I'm guilty for pouring my pickling juice into the sink or at best into my compost. I wish I knew before that I can just reuse the store-bought pickling brine/juice to pickle fresh cucumbers. Please remember to reuse the pickling brine, it is super easy, It saves a lot of money & most importantly earth resources. Reusing pickling juice cost about $1 vs $5-6 per store-bought organic pickles jar. It takes less than a minute! Pickles will be ready the next day. You can make about 3 batches of new pickles from same brine. Greywater reuse - revisited, Bangalore, India.

03:07
Grey-water- water from clothes wash and bath water- can actually be considered as a much un-utilized resource. It can be treated by simple methods and reused to grow food and vegetables for example or to flush the toilet thus saving on fresh water use. The benefits are food and nutrition security, water security, a green roof,a cool house and less pollution of our water resources. Try it and do your bit for the planet.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Let's Talk Trash (4/23/13)

01:04:33
Jared Blumenfeld, Pacific Southwest Administrator, EPA Bea Johnson, Author, Zero-Waste Home Shauna Sadowski, Sustainability Director, Annie's Mike Sangiacomo, President and CEO, Recology Inc. Joel Makower, Chairman and Executive Editor, GreenBiz Group Inc. - Moderator Imagine a world in which nothing goes into a landfill or an incinerator, one where all of our discarded materials become resources for others to use. It may sound impossible, but Zero Waste proponents disagree. Across the nation, policymakers, business leaders and individuals are reinventing their relationship to waste in incredibly innovative ways -- from outlawing the use of plastic bags to designing responsible product packaging to wearing water-less denim. Innovators are coming to understand that the pathway to a sustainable future can be paved with more than just recycling bins and compost heaps; they say it requires us to take a close look at the ecosystem that we've all played a part in creating. A San Francisco urbanite, an infrastructure expert, a business sustainability director and a political leader show us the 30,000-foot view of a sustainable city and dive into the everyday actions that could move us toward a zero waste future.

How Israel became a leader in water use in the Middle East

07:57
Over the past few years in Israel, the country's water shortage has become a surplus. Through a combination of conservation, reuse and desalination, the country now has more water than it needs. And that could translate to political progress for the country in the Middle East, one of the most water-stressed regions in the world. NewsHour's Martin Fletcher reports.
