In this video, I talk about customer relationship management and how you can add value to your company. Creating more value than you capture is an important aspect of any business. What do I mean by value creation vs value capture? Value creation is the ability to generate benefit to customers based on attributes from the services and products you provide. Value capture is the appropriation of a percentage of the benefit that you create for your customers. If you do this well, you will have a good way of creating a value proposition for your business. There are several reasons why you want to create much more value than you capture, particularly related to customer relationship management. Customer relationship management is the process of ensuring that you build networks and long-term relationships with your customers. You want to always make sure that you are creating customer value, as this one drive the growth of your company. 1. Creating more value than you capture ensures repeat customers. It takes far more energy to acquire one customer than it does to get somebody that is already purchased from you to repurchase. You should always focus on the people that you have done business with in the past, and make these people happy. They will essentially become your sales staff. 2. Creating more value than you capture ensures that your customer base grows. An important part of customer relationship management is to ensure that you are growing a larger customer base. The best way to grow your customer base is through referrals and through your existing customers. If they are very happy with the value creation vs value capture, they will gladly tell other people about your business. 3. Creating more value than you capture adds value to the overall business. How can you add value to the company? From the employee side, you have to know that nobody will hire you unless you’re providing value to the company. Moreover, if you create more value for your customers than you acquire, your employees will be more likely to contribute for the greater good. Customer relationship management is a difficult thing to do, but it really just revolves around the golden rule: Do on to others as they would do on to you. In other words, you provide as many ways to add value to a product and service that you can.
