Manuals can be found at the dealer and online.** In this video I show how the hose's are routed from the carburetors to the air cut off valve on a 1985 Honda Shadow VT1100C motorcycle. I also show the fuel and vent hoses. The air cut off valve is used to restrict air to the carburetors when the motorcycle is decelerating. This causes the air/fuel ratio to become more rich and prevents the bike from back firing or popping. Honda was forced to jet their bikes lean to pass EPA regulations, and the air cut off valve was Honda's solution to back firing caused from a lean air/fuel ratio. Thank you for watching!

An unvented bathroom sink may have a full S-trap, which may siphon and expose the home to sewer gas. 2. Before doing any plumbing work, turn off the water at the main water supply or at local service valves. 3. Remove the old drain piping. 4. If replacing the faucet, remove that as well. 5. Use plumber’s putty to make a watertight seal on the faucet base plate. 6. Install the faucet per the manufacturer’s instructions. 7. Add flexible supply tubing between the faucet and the shut off valves. 8. Dryfit the PVC drain piping. A P-trap should be used. If venting through the roof is not an option, an air emittance valve can be added at the highest possible place in the cabinet below the sink. 9. Use plumber’s putty on the drain connections to the sink. 10. Prime and glue all PVC pieces for the remainder of the drain. This is a complete review of procedures required to perform a compression test and valve adjustment on the 2002 - 2003 Yamaha YZF- R1. These service procedures are intended to be performed while the engine is installed inside the chassis, which may differ from a "bench test" style valve adjustment. This machine has 48, 678 well maintained miles. The valve clearances appear to be original from the factory and were all within specification, although the majority were at tightest limit. This bike has a full Graves MotoGP exhaust system without a fuel programmer, a stock style K&N air filter and it is unknown for how many miles the engine has been in this modified condition. This video is intended for the intermediate to advanced mechanic who is stuck on a certain procedure, or needs clarification on a dimension, tolerance, or who is looking for a possible solution for quick troubleshooting/ diagnosing. This type of service is not recommended for beginners. Performing a valve adjustment with the engine installed is roughly a 5-6 hour job straight for a "pro" motorcycle mechanic, if you only have to adjust the valve once. Sometimes when the valves are excessively worn, or a valve adjustment service is past due, the valves may have elongated to a point were the smallest shim will still not yield sufficient valve clearance, and you may have to repeat the valve adjustment procedure twice or overhaul the top-end. This job requires removal of the following items before the valve train can be adjusted: drivers seat, fuel tank, side fairing, under fairing, air box assembly, throttle body assembly, radiator assembly, thermostat housing assembly, throttle cable disconnection, various electrical connection removal, coolant flush. Compression Specifications: Minimum (192 P.S.I.), Standard (206 P.S.I), Maximum (213 P.S.I), difference between any cylinder should not exceed 1 Bar or 14.5 P.S.I. A properly designed steam system is extremely important. Clean, dry steam through your steam distribution network maximizes the quality of steam, and protects all related components thus keeping costs and maintenance to a minimum. Principles of Operation of the Pressure Reducing Valve: - Normal positions before start-up are with the main valve closed and the pilot valve held open by spring force or air pressure. Entering steam passes through the pilot valve into the main diaphragm chamber and also out through the control orifice. As flow through the pilot valve exceeds flow through the orifice, control pressure increases in the diaphragm chamber and opens the main valve. As steam flows through the main valve, the increase in downstream pressure feeds back through the pressure sensing line to the underside of the pressure diaphragm. When the force below that diaphragm balances the compression force of the spring above it, the pilot valve throttles. The control pressure maintained in the main diaphragm chamber positions the main valve to deliver just enough steam for the desired delivery pressure. Adjustment of the spring or air pressure above the pressure diaphragm changes the downstream pressure set point. When steam is no longer required, the sensing line pressure increases closing the pressure pilot and the control pressure bleeds back through the control orifice. This allows the main valve to hold the desired reduced pressure, and it may close tight for a dead-end shutoff. Its purpose is to prevent compressor surge, and reduce wear on the turbocharger and engine. Blowoff valves relieve the damaging effects of compressor "surge loading" by allowing the compressed air to vent to the atmosphere, making a distinct hissing sound, or recirculate into the intake upstream of the compressor inlet. Hooked up correctly a BOV can hold pressure, and only open on vacuum. Hooked up as a relief valve it will open when pressure from the turbo gets too high. In the case where a mass airflow sensor (MAF) is used and is located upstream from the blowoff valve, the engine control unit (ECU) will inject excess fuel because the atmospherically vented air is not subtracted from the intake charge measurements. The engine then briefly operates with a fuel-rich mixture after each valve actuation. The rich mixing can lead to hesitation or even stalling of the engine when the throttle is closed, a situation that worsens with higher boost pressures. Occasional events of this type may be only a nuisance, but frequent events can eventually foul the spark plugs and destroy the catalytic converter, as the inefficiently combusted fuel produces soot (excess carbon) and unburned fuel in the exhaust flow can produce soot in the converter and drive the converter beyond its normal operating temperature range. An alternative method for utilizing both a MAF and a blowoff valve is to have the MAF located down stream between the intercooler and the throttle plate. This is known as Blow-through rather than the traditional Draw-through set up. Care must be taken as to the position of the MAF to prevent damage to the sensitive element. For example, on a SR20DET motor, the MAF must be at least 12" from the throttle plate, and the blowoff valve must be 6" from the MAF sensor. By using a blow-through method, the MAF won't be affected by the blowoff valve opening as the pressure is vented before the air reaches the MAF. One approach used to mitigate the problem has been to reduce the boost pressure, which reduces the required venting volume and yields less charge over-calculation by the ECU. The air can also be recirculated back into the intake, a typical stock setup for cars with an upstream MAF sensor. The situation can also be corrected by switching the fuel metering system over to a manifold absolute pressure sensor, a conversion that usually requires a compatible aftermarket ECU or piggy-back fuel controller. The MAP sensor monitors the absolute pressure in the manifold at all times and will correctly detect the change that occurs when the valve vents, allowing the ECU to reduce fuel metering accordingly.

*** PLEASE READ *** In this video demonstration, I show how to get to, remove, clean, and replace the throttle body and idle air control motor (aka IAC) on a 4.2l ford motor. This procedure is the same for any fuel injected vehicle. * * * Check out my website krkvideos.com * * * The vans require removal of alot more stuff just to access the throttle body. A dirty IAC can cause a rough idle. A dirty throttle body can harm performance and cause rough engine operation. When the throttle body or iac is removed a new gasket must be used to properly seal the connection to the intake. GM idle air motors are generally mounted on the throttle body and can be cleaned without removal from the throttle body. This means one less gasket and a lesser chance of creating a vacuum leak. The ford throttle body had a note on it that said it was not to be cleaned because the coating on the throttle blade might be damaged. Thats fine for a new car but that has to be disregarded when working on something that has some miles on it. IAT - Intake Air Temperature - Measures the temperature of the air the engine is intaking. IAC - Idle air control - Controls the amount of air the engine is intaking while it is idling.
